The Word Ninja
Your and You’re sound the same and are often substituted for each other. Here is the difference:
Your is a possessive adjective referring to something that belongs to you. It will always be followed by a noun.
- I love your purse!
- The color of your car is blue.
- Your house is beautiful.
You’re is the contraction (shorter form) of “you are”.
- You’re not supposed to do that.
- I hope you’re going to be there.
- Make sure you’re here on time.
