The Word Ninja

The Word Ninja

Your and You’re sound the same and are often substituted for each other. Here is the difference:

Your is a possessive adjective referring to something that belongs to you. It will always be followed by a noun.

  • I love your purse!
  • The color of your car is blue.
  • Your house is beautiful.

You’re is the contraction (shorter form) of “you are”.

  • You’re not supposed to do that.
  • I hope you’re going to be there.
  • Make sure you’re here on time.
